Feedlogic Introduces FeedSaver™ Product Line
WILLMAR, Minn. — Sept 10, 2007 — Feedlogic Corporation, a leading supplier of swine nutrition technology, has introduced FeedSaver, a new product line designed to reduce production costs and maximize profitability for producers of all types and sizes.
The FeedSaver line is part of Feedlogic’s suite of intelligent feeding products. It incorporates key features of its precision feeding technology first introduced in 2002, as well as new features which provide producers greater control over outcomes in production systems.
"We made it simple on the outside, but very powerful on the inside," said Feedlogic president and founder Drew Ryder. "In addition to delivering the exact diet needed for optimal growth, FeedSaver provides producers with the information they need to make important production decisions and to take rapid action."
FeedSaver includes a new feature which allows rapid adjustments in feeding strategies to manage specific challenges such as disease and to gain maximum value from feed ingredients. The FeedSaver system will automatically monitor feed intake and can optimize nutrition to a group of pigs in response to variations in intake and growth.
"Producers have told us that two of their biggest challenges today are biological variation within their systems and finding and keeping good labor in hog barns," Ryder said. ''FeedSaver is a valuable tool to tackle both these challenges."
"Many hog producers are currently missing opportunities for cost savings," Ryder said. "In finisher barns, it could be $6 to $10 per pig in areas such as feed wastage, poor feed efficiency, slow growth, and sort loss. In sow barns, it could be as high as $100 per sow per year in poorer productivity, higher replacement rates, and lower weaning weights.
"With FeedSaver, we provide producers with a way to identify the higher cost and waste areas in specific parts of their production system and let automated technology make the necessary adjustments to ensure the greatest profitability."
FeedSaver enables new strategies in production including:
- Split-sex feeding without requiring equal numbers of gilts and barrows in a barn.
- Speeding up slower growers with or without sorting.
- Reducing feed cost by feeding on curves matched to the performance in each pen.
- Targeting feed treatments such as Paylean more effectively. Phase feeding sows in lactation to ensure healthier litters and improved sow longevity.
- Preparing gilts intended for the breeding herd with more effective nutrition.
- Adjusting the timing, amount, and formulation of feed to gestating sows to suit body condition and parity.
"Producers have come to accept that their staff can only manage day-to-day production at a very basic level – making sure pigs get feed, water, and proper ventilation. To achieve long-term profitability, producers must adopt on-farm technologies like FeedSaver," Ryder said.
"For large producers and integrators, FeedSaver provides a means to better understand and control their supply chain," Ryder said. "Corporate managers and executives will have access to extensive data on feed consumption in each barn on a constant basis."
